06:50 pm - These bags are not my bag.

Or: Sack the sacks.

This is a bizarre fad.
Why does everything come with a personalized sack? It's like the company is trying to "subtlety" suggest that their product is high class by including non-functional little totes. I mean, take the little absurdly un-useful case that comes with an Ipod... Well, it doesn't allow you to control the ipod while it's inside it (or plug in your headphones easily), it doesn't cushion the ipod and it doesn't hold the ipod in place (even inside itself). It's useless. It's for show. Or for nothing. I GUESS one could throw the ipod in it before putting it in ones suitcase or backpack. Anyway, ipods are delicate personal electronics, so I'll give it a pass.

But look: my tripod came in a 'faux crushed velvet' sack with a drawstring at the top. No other straps on the sack. You can't sling it over your shoulder or clip it to a camera pack-- it's not even especially comfortable to hand-hold. WHAT IS THIS FOR? Is anybody seriously going to remove their tripod head a maneuver the tripod into the sack between uses? This is GEAR, not electronics. To my horror, the tripod HEAD came in a similar bag. Completely different brand, same idiocy. What are they thinking?

But that's not the worst or most hilarious of it. Not by a LONG shot.

My PC power supply. I promise you, this is true. My INTERNAL power supply came in a draw-string faux-velvet sack. If you don't know, power supplies are bolted to the inside of a desktop and left there until their death or replacement.

Humans are fucking neurotic.

I'd like to shoot a little 35mm film to cross process. Does anybody have a canon* 35mm film body I can borrow? I have lenses, so you wouldn't have to lend me that. I don't really care how old it is. Autofocus and some kind of internal meter are the only creature comforts I'm attached to, and I'd even do without those, if you have something oldskool to lend.

*I specify canon only because I already have lenses from their EF line =>
